ABBY MERCIER

Abby grew up in Abbotsford, where she played competitive fastpitch throughout her childhood and youth. After moving away, she returned to raise her family and was struck by the disparity between Abbotsford’s recreation facilities and those in neighbouring communities. Her children were now using many of the same facilities she had grown up with—facilities that had become increasingly outdated as the city continued to grow.

Abby lives in Abbotsford with her husband and two children. She is also a competitive runner who recently completed the Boston Marathon in an impressive 3:05:43 and was also the 2026 first female finisher for the Run for Water 10K.

Abby has worked as a Registered Massage Therapist for over 15 years. Many of her clients are athletes and active families, and she regularly hears about the challenges they face accessing fields, courts, pools, arenas and recreation programs in their own community.

Abby believes recreation is essential to physical and mental health, connection and confidence—and that Abbotsford residents of every age and ability deserve safe, accessible and modern places to move, play and thrive.
